Hi all,

my friend and I were out riding yesterday and his steering suddenly became siezed. We opened up the headset and it was dry of any grease and the upper bearing race was partially destroyed.

Can anyone give me any help regarding what bearings to buy for what we think is an FSA TH 857 headset. Will the bearings for an FSA Pig fit it?

I've had a look on the FSA website and there is no results when I search for an 'FSA TH 857'.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Cheers

Paul ๐Ÿ˜€

His bike is a 2009 Orange p7.

Pig bearings are a completely different size, best bet if the cups/cones aren't damaged, is to pick up some loose balls of the same size, and fit those instead. The cage is mainly for ease of assembly, more balls will spread the load better.(and tell him to avoid pressure washing it in future, the seals aren't brilliant at the best of times.)

As much as I hate wasting stuff, if coatesy's loose balls option ๐Ÿ˜ฏ dosen't work out then I'd buy a cheap replacement FSA headset from on-one (or maybe elsewhere) and either use the bearings from that or fit the whole new headset.....

Other FSA headsets are available...

Have a look at superstar, they do replacement bearings and are always really helpful with queries about products.
