At 5'2.5" my Mrs S is a smidge under a foot shorter than me and to her credit has made do with my 'slightly too small for me' 456 on the 4 rides that she has done. I took her all the way over to Hayfield yesterday, up snake path and down the shooting cabin (which was, on reflection a bit harsh but she did put me on a horse a couple of weeks back)

As the 456 is a bit small for me and too big for her it'll be going up for sale but she's seen the suspension working at the back of my bike and wants a FS bike.

Should she be looking at S/XS/XXS frames I realise the best option would be to get her down to a demo day but that's probably not going to be practical. Suggestions would be appreciated

Miss4real is also 5 foot 2 and rode her new Canyon nerve 29" in a size s for the second & third times this weekend - she loves it (having got a cube HT 29er last year).

The HT was a 15" and fitted perfectly but actually had the same geometry as a 'mans' small.

The Canyon is a 16" so in theory a tad large for her but we tried a couple of other bikes in shops first and the conclusion was that womens specific frames tended to be too short, in stupid pastel pinks and purples and that if she wanted a 29er standover height 'by the book' was always going to be an issue.
Anyway a video starring the lovely Darcy Turenne confirmed that even she didn't necessarily have 'correct' standover clearance on her Norco so the Canyon got bought.
It fits very well and as a 29er with 110mm travel the standover is bordering what I'd expect on my 26er so who knows what's right.

We've got a small size Santa Cruz Juliana that I need to sell. It's a whole bike at the moment or can be split.

Might be interested in the Juliana, I suspect the Sub 5, although perfectly capable may be too ugly to pass muster ๐Ÿ˜€
