[#2336418]

I'm in the market for a new FS bike since my last bike got nicked. I'm rather tall, so I need a BIG bike. Its the usual case of LBSs not having XLarge bikes in stock, let alone the models I am looking at, so I have to do all of this based on reviews and geometry specs.

The bike I have come from was a SC Nomad. It was a beauty, but I don't ride as much as I once did and don't want to spend that kind of money again. I guess I am looking to spend £1800-2400. I just want a bike that does a bit of everything.

I'm leaning toward a Cannondale RZ 120 1 (mainly as I like the idea/look of a lefty fork) as 'dale bikes seem to be pretty big from what I can see of the geometry specs. However, I have seen an older model RZ 140 7 (or is it a RIZE?) which is around £1800 or so. Seems pretty good, but doesn't come with the lefty fork.

Then there is the Orange Five S, but I have always had a suspician that Orange bikes are a tad smaller - am I right, or is that just rubbish?

There seem to be a multitude of Spesh bikes: Camber Pro, Stumpjumper FSR Comp, Pitch Pro... All seem good on paper.

Then there are the brands that weren't well known when I last was in the market for a bike, namely Mondraker and Lapierre.

Oh dear. Too much information......

Any suggestions for a tall rider, with a £2k budget who wants a bike that is happy doing most things?

My husband has a Felt Virtue (it's a 3/Team mixture, if that's relevant?) with a 21.5 inch frame and if anything it's a bit tall for him at 6ft 2, so they might be worth a look? It's a really nice bike.

Niner WFO or RIP9 may be out of budget - but what about the new Giant 29er FS'ers?

Will look at Felt (another of those makes I have heard little about). WRT 29er bikes, I read such extreme opinions of them it kind of put me off. I will not right them off though.

Can you get an XL Stumpjumper Comp 29er over here or are they US only? I reckon that would fit the bill for you.

Here you go.

Its the expert tho and up for £3000 so more than you want to spend but spot on for what you might want. Although it might not be quite as good if you go on uplift days.

The Stumpjumper Comp 29er looks great with its XXL size, but £3k is just too much for me.

Thats the Expert, contact Spech UK and see if they will bring in the Comp if not try Spech US and then some US or CA shops and see if they will send a Comp over. Its only $2600 USD

You may be able to get a good deal on a second hand or ex demo Turner Sultan now. Failing that Competitive Cyclist are always doing closeouts, I imported for just over a £1k, which would give you a reasonable amount to turn it into a bike.
