Front or rear for the "better" tyre

I've bought a wire bead Continental Contact and a folding Top Contact. I've just checked - the the usual applies to the expensive Top Contact of better materials and rubber, lighter and harder wearing, more supple (Yadda Yadda).

This is on commuting and road/light gravel. Regularly with a pannier or two on.

So - grippier and more supple on front, wear out the cheaper tyre on the back?

... Only because the voice in my head messes with me by saying what about 'tougher and harder wearing on the back'.

🤣
