[Closed] Front mech... Top Swing or Conventional?

If you can fit both (cos it's on a conventional hardtail frame) what should you use out of preference and why?
I'm aware that there's plenty of full sus frames that can only fit one or the other, but is there any advantage to either a conventional or a Top Swing if you can fit either?
Also, on a 24/36/Bash setup, any advantage to running a newer "2x10" front mech Vs a last gen 3x10 XT or SLX front mech on the cheap?

Conventional is much more durable IME.

Is there any rhyme or reason to it? Obviously all road bikes run a conventional mech, must be something in it...
