I'm looking at the XT and XTR 11 speed front mechs for a 2x setup. Is there actually a different top pull only and dual pull version? Or is this simply just different descriptions for the same thing?

Top pull generally only pulls from the top, DP lets it work both ways, they have a cable run that lets the bottom pull, pull from above

That's what I'd assumed, just didn't know if it actually existed.

Top pull = it will start rattling after about 2 years.
Bottom pull = it will never start rattling.

There are dual pull and top pull only versions, the top pull only apparently gives you more clearance for running larger tyres.
