I'm building up a 14" Scandal frame for my partner. I've just fitted, but not adjusted, the front mech. and it looks like the end of the mech, when adjusted, will catch the knobs on the 2.1" rear tyre (I may just get away with it, but I'm not sure).
If it does hit though I could leave the mech. mal-adjusted and run the risk of throwing the chain off the granny ring (which doesn't feel like a good idea) or rotate the tail of the mech. out a little; will this mess up the shifting too much?
It should be fine.
My missus has one and so does a friend of hers and both have no clearance issues with chunky 2.1 tyres and oodles of mud. 2.25's worked ok before too from what I remember.
I also had one of ths XS inbreds with big tyre out back some of teh time and it has the same geometry so should fare the same.
This is with shimano mechs. It's not good to angle them too much as somewhere in the shifting range you'll end up with something rubbing.
Cheers, I'll get it properly setup and see how it goes.
