Hi, first post!

Now, my 08 rockhopper is due some TLC. I can't decide what to do with the front wheel... the hub is clearly shot with side-to-side play but should I:
A) buy a new factory wheel
B) get a custom-built front wheel
C) buy just the (upgraded?) new hub and DIY it with my rim and spokes
i
I have the time and am OK with the tools (I can true-up a wheel) but is it better to just buy a new wheel? Any product recommendations?

Cheers,
Kev

Does the hub not just need some new balls and a good clean ?
If its is pitted inthe inner surface and dead it's prob best to replace it with a whole wheel
Trueing a wheel is one thing building one a lot harder.
As its unlikely you would find a hub that needs the same
Spoke length as you have.

A hope hoop front wheel is very good value

That's the sort of advice I need - I just don't know. I'm not the sort of person to take the bike to a shop as I like to get involved (I work on cars) but I know little about bikes.

So what I should just open upp the hub and have a look at what needs doing with it?

Just tightenned it up! Didn't realise so much play was just a service job - cones! like I said, I don't know bikes, when a car bearing has play its not something you adjust!
