Hi all,
When applying the front brake on my Genesis Core 30, the lower part of the fork vibrates back and forth sending vibrations through the whole bike. The bike is 8 weeks old.
Any thoughts? The headset appears fine and the calliper bolts are tight.
Thanks.
Appart from the vibration does the brake seem to work/stop you?
Is there any way something could have been spilt onto the braking surface like oil or polish?
Yes, it seems to stop fairly well, although I avoided using it when I realised there was a problem.
Last time I used the bike I dried the discs with a cloth as they had been getting some surface rust, I wonder now if the cloth I used had something on it like polish or something greasy. What's the best way to clean the rotors so I can at least rule that out?
Thanks.
There are a few specific disc brake cleaners but in my experience they make the brake squeak for a ride or two. . surface rust will wear off as soon as you use the brake anyway so dont worry about cleaning it off.
If it has only been vibrating in the last ride it will probably stop after a few hard braking moments.
