I'm on my 2nd Genesis Core and love it dearly, it does high mileage and very mixed riding but I like the focus to be an agressive, playful bike that can descend fast and jumps well. Therefore the Stanton Slackline sounds ideal but will I really see a difference?

I prefer alu as a frame material and I like the rugged simplicity of the Core so I wonder will the 4X inspired geometry and longer travel fork of the slackline really make that much of a difference? Is it only me that finds it slightly ironic that they play on the 4X heritage when its has 50% more travel than a real 4X bike!!

Informed opinions welcomed!!

If you love it dearly, why change?

The geometry of the Genesis you ride is very sorted, and also very similar to that of a Cotic Soul/BFe. The Slackline looks to me, like it's trying too hard to be something that just won't work that well... A 4X bike with a long fork (like you say).

A 120mm fork on a HT is about the sweetspot IMO, any longer really is superfluous and you can't best make advantage of it.

Also, the Core consistently got rave reviews by the Cycling Press, and for good reason!

Yes, you'll have a much lighter wallet and a less fun bike.

For an all mountain HT 150mm is great. You can take advantage of it just have to adapt your riding style.

I was at 150mm on an Al frame but found it to harsh to get the most out of it. The 456 etc made sense from that respect.

As with all these things you either buy to try or find someone with one 🙂
