after nearly 10 years of service my hardtail was looking a little tired and as its now semi-retired since the arrival of the s-works i thought id get it powder coated and use it as a commuter. started re-building today but the BB threads are a little contaminated so it'll need a trip to the LBS to have the threads chased. is it wrong that i cant wait to ride a bike ive had since 2000 simply because its a different colour???

fast commuter, mtb cassette?
i know i know! original plan was to have just the head badge and and down tube, but i got a bit carried away and used the whole pack! no clear coat on so may well remove a few......
bidding on an 11 tooth ultegra cassette for it 8)
It looks really really good with a bit of writing in each spot, it's just that they all say exactly the same thing!
I love the name badge!
Cool, looks nice, forgot to say 8)
as for how much, i'm rather ashamed to say it was a damn sight more than the £30 most folks on here seem to be able to have them done for!
went to have a chat with the powdercoating guy and he said the labour was dependant on how hard the old paint was to get off but it would be somewhere between 50 and 100 quid. he was however confident that he could get it off without damaging the metal and i was absolutely cconfident he knew what he was talking about so i wouldnt be returning to collect a frame that only weighs 1lb after sandblasting so i was broadly happy with that.
i'm fairly certain his mental pricelist doubled the moment he picked it up and said "blimey thats light, is it expencive?"
final bill was £90
£90 for a decent job is about right.
Looks very nice!
