What do you wear if/when you have elbow pads on though? Normal SS tops only come down half way down my bicep giving a nice embarrassing gap above the pad.

Or do 'FR' style short sleeves come up a bit longer?

Those baggy, v-necked, sack-like jerseys are one of the things I really hate about mountainbiking.

As long as it has rear pockets and is an XC cut, sign me up.

I'd be much more likely to buy a mincecore light jersey for bloaters than a roadie jersey for anorexics. 🙂

Gosh, so many replies! Thank you all for responding. 🙂

My biggest bugbear with cycle clothing is cheap looking fabric that doesn't actually wick, and costs a fortune. So ...

I'd be up for one. My normal riding jerseys are the race face and sombrio looser fit ones that look more like normal t-shirts. The proper freeride/dh ones I've got are too heavy for normal riding. I think you either have one or the other and if you must have space for pads, buy the next size up.

My fav shirt is an endura burner with three quarter sleeves. Something like that.

Tony - the obvious one liner is killing me but I'll try to keep it to myself

Lol @ ton, man-sized for you then? 😉

I have e-mailed Chipps and mentioned that many of the people I have ridden with are not of whippet build. Hell, we like our beer and pub stops are part of the ride. 8)

Will they be flouncy ?
Cos I dont do flouncy.
And no pleats.
I'm in if they're not flouncy or pleated.

One of my favourite cycling shirts that I own is my singletrack special reserve jersey. Fits perfectly, looks great and has lasted a long time with only a bit of fraying. One like that please.

This sounded like a good idea but I think it could end up giving STW/mtbing a bad image. The big, baggy freeride top with 3/4 length sleeves doesnt sound cool. Give this to a man wearing elbow pads, mincing round a trail centre and you've created a monster.

Its got to look sleek and fast, some sort of close fitting lycra top would be best, shortish sleeves and a zipped collar. Perhaps some pockets at the back you could store stuff in, so you dont have to take a camels back with you.

But you've got the skills to match the freeride look!

The younger downhill/freeride generation will probably be seething at the fact the xc mincers have nicked their 'look'. I dont want to be a part of it so i'll stick with lycra jerseys.

The good old days of wearing jeans and a t shirt for bike rides. Why does no one do this anymore!

I'd absolutely be keen if it could be somewhere between lycra XC stylee and full-on freeride-esque. I don't wear pads or ride a DH rig, but the skintight lycra look ain't for me either.

Oh, and I realise this is asking for the moon on a stick, but if it were less than the £94.99 required for a woll st top, that would be good 🙂

Loose cut top here would be great, wouldn't look like it has shrunk in the wash like my other stw jersey 😀

Good plan - I'd give one a go.
Oppositite problem from most for me, too much Lycra and I'm in danger of looking like a techicolour swan vesta when I put my lid on.
