Hi,

During the Christmas break I broke the Right hand side cone of my rear wheel and damaged the dust cap of my freewheel body unit(cone was 3 year old and very thin...as I realised when I discovered the damage). As the body unit was new, I'm trying to see if it's possible to buy a new dust cap as I haven't manage to remove the dust cap of an old body without damaging it. I would like also to buy just the cone or maybe the axle and the cone/whasher/spacer without buying a new wheel and a hub. Is there any website which sell just basics part like that? Try Wiggle and CRC but didn't find anything good.

cheers,

Gilles

Evans have a special parts order line that I've always found very helpful and reliable. Go to the technical documents section of the shimano website - find the appropriate exploded drawing and list of parts and away you go.

I very much doubt if the freehub dust cap is available as a spare, and even if it was I doubt if Madison would bother to import it.

What rear hub do you have? Should have an FH-Mxxx number on it.

Thanks for all your replies. Just went to the Shimano website, find my part number, FH-M585, google it...and find that place:http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/. Look like heaven . And they even sell dust cap... not sure it will fit mine but I can try.

STW you rocks.

Im assuming you have a shimno hub / freehub?
To get the seal out you should remove the axle first and then get a wide bladed screwdriver and prise the dust cap out from underneath using the freehub body as a point to lever from. If you have an old freehub you should be able to just rob the dust seal from it an press it in.
If not im sure someone on here will have an old one you can have.
