my kids can trash a cd in 5 minutes so I'm genuinely backing up - FWIW 😐

so, an exact copy I guess, on a cd-r - that'll play in a cd ghetto blaster

iTunes?

Import as AIFF (original uncompressed CD file format), then bung tracks in a playlist and burn CD.

Easy peasy!

Don't import as MP3 as then you're compressing the files, losing data, and compromising the quality.

I've [s]copied[/s] backed up loads of CDs this way. Never had an issue.

Don't scrimp on blank CDs though. Cheap ones can go wrong after a while.

Windows Media player? Rip to MP3 (or WMA) and then Burn to CD audio. You don't need any additional software.
