This years rider list is up. So it turns out when you stick an entry into the draw there's a risk of actually getting a place.

you will have to do some training. In fact, do a lot of training.

Don't **have** to do it on a roadie bike. A couple of mates of mine did it on MTBs and slicks.

At the very least I'll be bodging a 32-tooth cassette onto my road bike.
I spend eight years living in the Lakes so I don't even have the benefit of ignorance about what I've let myself in for.
On the upside I'm in with a mate who's faster than me, so I'll have his slipstream, at least until Honister anyway!
