I do the Fred every other year, but this is a year off.

Just had a look at the maps to see if we could do an MTB ride that would mean we could cheer along some of our mates (who will be doing it in 7 hours)

I can't see a route. Trying to avoid riding against the FW tide or using a car on the FW route

- see them coming into Keswick + Whinlatter summit - quick lap of Whinlatter in between. Ride downhill to parked car at Thornthwaite. Drive to Ennerdale or Calder Bridge for last cheer.

- see them Newlands summit + top of Fangs Brow - slightly illegal route to Buttermere & up coffin road around Loweswater

- See them at Coniston + Coniston - spend 7 hours doing one of many epics.

- see them Ambleside + Hartside summit (via The Struggle) + Coniston for finish - possibly the best. 5 hours playing around Coniston/Ambleside/Elterwater

It would have been good to see htem at Glenridding and then dashed over Helvelyn, Thirlmere to Honister - but we'd never make it.

Honister Summit to Hardknott Summit - not really on and not a circular route

Have I missed anything obvious - perhaps involving a car more (not on FW route)
