So I managed to break some spokes and properly buckle the wheel.
I've just realised that where the wheels rubbed on the frame on the way back to the car it's rubbed into the frame on the inside of the rear triangle.
I think it's only superficial but it got me thinking about how much frame rub can a frame take before it starts to get structural?

i had a similar problem, i would say if you push both drop outs inwards (without the axle) in it and it is lost stiffness its structural. but dont take me word for it. : )
