Does anyone have any tips on how I could get this done? I'm looking to get my old full sus frame powder coated with a local firm and then apply the decals myself before getting it lacquered but don't know of anyone short of argos cycles that do lacquer coating and argos seem to charge the earth.
I've had a bash at doing it myself in the past with normal car lacquer and the results were okay in places but it ran in other parts making the over finish not that great. Would a car spray shop be enough?

Can't or won't the powder coating place do it for you?

Last time I got a frame finsihed I gave them the decals, and they clearcoated everything for me. That was a re-enamel on an old Orange C16 though, not powdercoating.

The frame coat people wont do it. From what I understand you can't have powdercpoaters lacquer over decals as it is baked on and the heating will burn the decals off.

OK, fair enough. I'd go with your suggestion of a car spray shop, however they sometimes will turn their nose up at little jobs and it may not be much (if any) cheaper than a recognised frame refinisher in the end.
