i have been quoted £220 for a full service on a RP23 rear shock and F125 FIT RL-11 forks from my LBS. the prices in this place, vary between reasonable and rip-off. what's the going rate for this type of job? whats involved?
so thats 165 with all the faffing + a fortune in postage. LBS it is then
I'll take a wild punt in saying not many LBS will be able to match the quality of LoCo.
As above.Local bike shop will not have the expertise of Si at loco.
Do your local bike shop do a recharge on the nitrogen.I doubt it.If there IS a problem your lbs will be ****ed.
I wouldn't trust any local bike shop with my suspension.Horse for courses my friend.
LOL thats the thing a lot of people forget the LBS have to remove forks and shock as well as fit them again after, set brakes up etc.
Also the LBS might send the forks to Mojo to be serviced anyway.
to be fair its not some place selling £80 heaps, and leisure lakes is just down the road if i decide to use them. so LoCos really that good? worth the messing if they're that much better than the competition
I work in a pretty decent LBS, and i'm also lucky enough to spend time in Loco's workshop too. There's no way on earth that we could do the work that he's capable of carrying out, either in terms of his knowledge and expertise, his parts and spares back up, or his tools and equipment. When you see the difference between most people's idea of a full service, and his, you'll probably wonder why he's so cheap, not expensive.
What messing about? Box um and send um the rest is sit back and wait for them to turn up on your doorstep looking and feeling new.
What coatesy said.
The guys a legend on here.I wouldn't go anywhere else.Got a new Van-RC sitting here waiting to be sent off to him for a retune but that will have to wait as i'm off to Tenerife in the morning for a week of dry sunny trails. 😀
LL almost certainly will send them to Mojo; the local branch (Bury) definitely do.
+1 for Loco tuning. Did a great job and fast turnaround on my Fox DHX5.0Air
Have you checked TFTuned.
they do collect services.
Having had a few "issues" with LBS servicing i will always send my stuff to Mojo/Loco/Tftuned.
my Rear shock is booked in for a TFT and Push upgrade next week.
P.S. mojo for warentee work.
Once i need anything out the warentee or custom setup, Loco and TFT are always my first call.
surely the LBS would just send them to TF / Mojo, etc.?
the only suspension service we offer in our concept store is a fork "lowers service" because its quick and easy, and we charge £25 for the job. I always have a few different sets of fox/RS seals and appropriate suspension oil/ suspension grease in the workshop for these jobs.
We could also do an aircan service, but don't have any seals for rear shocks (if needed, you never know until you open it up)
anything beyond this, we don't have the tools / spares so would always send it to a specialist tuning shop
+1 also for TFTuned. Did a great job and fast turnaround on my Rock Shox Revelations and have replied to my email questions when I've had a go at them myself recently too.
