hi, is it possible to remove and re-use mounting hardware without specialized tools?

Would you call molegrips or plumber grips specialist removal tools?
Or a G-Clamp/vice a specialist (re)installation tool?
They do tend to mark the outside of the mount kit to be fair, but what a couple of scratches on a mtb?
