Ok just to confirm I have a set of 150 mm float 32 rl 2010 with a silvery grey stantions and fox 36 floats 180 mm 2011 with goldish stantions they are not as golden brown as the kashima stantions. What is the difference between the two any ideas

Different batches can give a different finish, that's all

The 32s don't sound like they have the kashima coating, but the 36s do.

But the 36's are not dark brown like the stantions with kashima coating written on them

I've been over this with the forks fitted to my bike. 2011 Fox 36 Talas purchased new from Stif with [s]Emperors new clothes[/s] Cashima coating. (Which was new for that model year) The 2012 forks appeared a year or so later with a much darker gold finish & I then started thinking & made a few calls. The gold ones are Cashima; but the coating was definitely darker the next year & the later forks also had a logo near the top of the stanchion.

The difference is the gold ones cost a lot more than the grey ones IE more pub ammo but higher replacement cost than the older forks.

Its a colour added to the annodising. Thats all. Its good for marketing but otherwise in the real world you wont notice a difference.

As above - 2011 Kashima coating was a weaker colour, with a slight more difference in variation between each leg. 2012 onwards was rich gold, and had Kashima stamped on them.

The colour makes no difference IIRC, it's just a dye.

The 36's don't say kashima on them or the box so was wondering because there are silvery grey 2011 forks golden 2011's and dark brown. I can't upload pics at the moment I know this would be the best thing I was just wondering as if I was to sell them which I'm not but kashima ones go for more than non kashima so would I be ripping them off if it's not

Kashima's not a consistent colour, so that's not a worry. The wee kashima logo is a recent addition (I think for just this reason, lots of people getting annoyed because their forks didn't look kashimaey enough.

My shock's got 2 different shades, looks a bit weird.

ahem! And to illustrate (sort of) I've got an RS Boxxer here with different coloured stanchions.

Unless they've changed colour because you've worn all the coating off of course ๐Ÿ˜‰
