Hope someone can help me, Mojo aren't answering e-mails this week it seems.
Mate bought the above shock in July as part of a SC Bronson Carbon build - flash git.
Never got on with the shock, tried everything but it was crap - fixed it by buying a CCDB - Flash git.
Offered it to me - it's 200mm x 57mm same as the DHX 5 Air on my G-Spot - "fit it, try it out and if you like it, make me an offer" - very kind of him - no longer a git.
Brilliant, I thought, being poor I've never owned anything Kashiwhatyoucallit.
It didn't take long to notice comparing them that the Float is shorter - in fact it measures 195mm x 52mm - a size they don't make them in so I'm thinking it's compressed by 5mm.
It's not 'stuck down' per se - if you take out all the air it can be compressed to about 80% travel, which is probably limited by my ability to do so using only my hands and if I follow the guidelines and put in 250psi is returns to 195x52.
Is there anyway this could be 'normal' is there some quirk with the Bronson that calls for a 'special build' that makes it a bit shorter - he mentioned he needed to shorten the CCDB to get it in - or is it caused by a volume spacer? We're both big lads and it was meant to be set-up for him.
Or is it just knackered? I'm tempted to drive to Mojo - I hate phones.
Fox will absolutely build custom length shocks for manufacturers.
Length can be adjusted with shims.
The lack of full compression may also be due to fox tuning the internals to get to SC's specified stroke number.
I could be wrong though.
Thanks, sounds like I need to speak to Mojo then - I'll pile over next week.
Had a Float X on my Bronson & no huge improvement over a standard kashwatsythingymabob, save your pennies and go for a ccdb, much better.
Cheers
Mark
Just spoke to Mojo - they reckon it's sick, they're going to have a look for me next week under warranty.
Likely a small amount of air has leaked into the damper from the spring side.
Float x is noticeable better than standard CTD. Its a different damper, feels more plush, and doesn't pack down on long descents.
