[#4270571]

I want to service my Fox F-120 Forks.
Im struggling to find exactly what oils I need. I know i need some fox float oil (that comes in the blue pillows) but I cant find what to put in the legs.
Also has anyone got a link to a good set of service instructions. I have seen a few but any further info or advice would be great

Thanks

Andy

Also, any idea on how much p&p is from loco tuning. they sell the pillows but not sure how much p&p is.

thanks for those.
Is it always necessary to change the wiper seals? or is it just advisable.
Trying to keep the cost down at the moment otherwise i would just send them off to be done.
am i right in thinking that if my oil is still clean and uncontaminated i could simply lube the foam seals for now?

Andy

I just clean the wiper seals, as per the Cyclist No.1 article.

Searched this forum for this topic earlier and found a good thread with a 9 point guide. Did them this evening, it was easy. But the air spring side still seeps a bit of oil. Does that mean I need a new wiper seal?

If you're weeping oil onto the stanchions then yes you need new wiper seals.

The other thing I think it's important to check is the amount of fluid in the air chamber. You'll need a 26mm socket, depressurise the air side and then undo the air topcap with the socket. There should be only 5ml of float fluid in there I.e not much. If there's more then it's migrated through the air seal from the lower leg. When I did mine all of the lower leg oil had migrated to the air chamber. This means you can't get full travel and te fork feels harsh. It's a totally different fork now I've serviced it!!

Did you fit the new SKF low friction seals? Make a big difference and much less oil seepage afterwards. They do still let some muck into the forks (the wiper rings get dirty) but they don't seem to let oil out like the older Fox ones.

Other option, of course, is to stick a set of Enduro seals in.
