Do I really need the screw on knock out tool thing they say you need to release the damper side, or is there a bodge alternative?

Same socket you use to loosen the foot nuts, backed off a couple of turns and a resin faced mallet.
Never had or used the knockout tool.

nope, can knock them out with a socket.
unless you want to feel like a pro....and spend a ton of cash....but its nice to have the proper tools so i got them.
