Well iam a bit confused, dont normally get stuck on steer tubes and headsets. But i asked about the Hope HS136 1.5" - 1 1/8" Reducer.
i was just looking at how it fitted on the 1.1/8th steer with out the crown race from the frame and forks its on. When i drop the reducer onto the steer it wouldnt drop anyway near the bottom of the steer tube then i noticed it flares wider ever so slightly at the bottom, but its not tapered.
am i going mental or just plain thick? any help would me much appricated.

Looks like it just needs putting in place. Either use a tube and hammer ot a trip to see your lbs
bray it on
Bray it on?
i had thought about tapping it on like with a normal race crown. but its solid as. and its not got a split in it. either.
Could always file out the inside a little to help it
microwave it to heat it up, this should make it expand enough to allow it to slide on.
Yeah have the dremel out ready.
just wondered am i missing some thing here or is it the wrong size?
I put one on a set of Revs a couple of months ago. Same wider bit at the bottom of the steerer tube. You just need a hammer and crown race setting tool, or some plastic plumbing pipe. I used the pipe, cos there was some in the cupboard. Just put the pipe over the steerer and give it a few good whacks. Mine needed more than a few, but got there eventually and the plastic pipe doesn't mark the race. The hope headset I used had a split race that fits over the reducer, so no worries there.
Popped one of these on last month, same issue. Rockshox have a smaller lower diameter on the steerer tube, whereas Fox have a wider flared bottom, hence why its tough on the Fox.
Simple and easy solution, get some coarse sandpaper and sand a little away from the reducer a bit at a time, after about half an hour it'll fit on.
You'll want it to still be tight going on, so use a plastic water pipe and a hammer to hammer it on, but try it after standing a little at a time.
It'll fit on, just needs some elbow grease ๐
microwave it to heat it up

๐ Putting the reducer in a pan of boiling water for a while will help - as would freezing the steerer ๐
