[#4013166]

My 2011 Fox 36's seem only to only ever reach 2/3rd of their useable travel despite them being at 50psi and me being 13st with kit. Seen a few other people with similar problems was just wondering if anyone had a guide or knows how to change the HSC internally as I couldnt see it in the Fox help section (might have missed it though). Any help would be great as I don't really want to pay Mojo to do it.

Having the same problem with mine had them 2 years and still can't get full travel managed 3/4 today 😀

I can see why you would want them to ramp up if you were hitting big gaps and drops but for all mountain they need to be more linear like the 32's

hunt around on the MTBR forums, it's quite a common complaint and as long as your forks are floats not TALAS then you can mod the main air spring plunger by removing the piston head, cutting a small amount off the rod and then replacing the piston head, makes the spring volume bigger and a bit less prone to ramping up at the end of the stroke, but you maintain the same damping characteristics, just alter the spring behaviour.

I did mine about 3 months ago and has made a big difference, although obviously if your fork is still in warranty then i wouldn't go attacking the innards yet!

Seems like it would work but would rather do it through the damping system as it should be reversable and more tunable in both directions!

true, on both counts, however after having had 3 pairs of air sprung 36's and spent a long time fiddling with them I'm convinced the air spring itself is too progressive and that the lack of full travel/ramping problem is there rather than a HSC problem.

earlier advice stands though, head over to MTBR, there are some very very in depth and long threads on there about tuning and modding just about every fork from fox and RS, even if they don't relate to your problem they are interesting!

Good point actually I had the Vans before and they were fine although a slightly different damper but I don't think they would make the characteristics differ that greatly

Think you can retrofit an RC2 damper, but that would involve £££.
