[Closed] Fox 36 RC2 HSC setting?

Hey Guys,

I have a 2016 Fox 36 RC2 that I'm trying to dial in.

Yesterday riding on the frozen trails of Surrey Hills on the settings I left the car park with, I got a harsh ride and gave me white finger at the end of the first trail. I noticed that adding more HSC (turning clockwise) gave me a more comfortable ride and no white finger.

Can someone explain this to me please? I would have thought that reducing your HSC (turning anti clockwise) would give a more comfortable ride. Is this a sign of me running a badly setup fork?

If its a Float the Fox website has very specific guidelines for base settings and how to adjust them for different psi.

Bit of assumption here but...

The HSC is just a spring loaded valve allowing oil to flow through the HSC shimstack when a predetermined pressure is reached. If you have too little HSC dialled in then the valve will open at a lower pressure and screw up your LSC also (when the valve is closed LSC has the most effect). So you need to have some HSC dialled in to keep the valve closed at shaft speeds that should be dealt with by the LSC circuit (bumps and general chatter)

I am assuming that the FOX RC2 works similar to other dampers, someone shout if it doesn't!

I wouldn't say it's an indication of a badly set up fork necessarily.
It is difficult to quantify how many +/- clicks of a particular setting can effect the handling characteristics of the whole bike.
It is possible by adding HSC will increase comfort and control. Not enough HSC could...
- Allow the fork to use more travel than necessary over a given bumpy section and feel wallowy.
- Lower the dynamic ride height of the front of the bike and move rider weight forward on to the front wheel. Rebound damping should also be adjusted to avoid "packing"

@ bloodsexmagik

I think the interaction goes the other way LSC will effect the HSC but not the other way around - The guys at Vorsprung did some great videos on this stuff
