Fox 34 air cap stuck

I can't get the air shaft top cap off my 2017 fox 34s. Pushing down on the spanner in the photo above. Any tips please?

Put the fork back in the bike and put the wheel back in.
You'll be able to hold the fork steadier and also push down on the top of the spanner so it doesn't slip off when the pull on the other end.

Resurrecting this thread to say shoutout to @singlespeedstu - just had a very tough air cap removal from my 36's but remembered seeing this a while ago, saved me a lot of hassle!
