Mrs_oab has 2015 FOX 32 Float CTD Evolutions. The ones with dreadful damping and most folk refuse to service.
I've just done a service - lower leg and as much of damper as I can. It still chokes on most hits yet dives deep on braking.
Do I replace the whole fork (second hand)?
Or do I look for new innards/damping, likely aftermarket?
For reference, mrs_oab is 8st and a fairly gentle rider. Usually at bottom end of all pressure charts.
Might be worth keeping an eye out for a second hand FIT or GRIP damper at a reasonable price somebody has upgraded.
Or if a bargain fork comes up, second hand prices are high currently though.
I had the exact same forks on my old Trek and the damper completely shat itself within warranty, thankfully Mojo stuck a Fit4 damper in it instead and it transformed the fork. It's especially noticeable on the mellower stuff where the old damper was too firm to allow any movement.
So my choice, especially with no bargain replacement forks around currently, would be to stick a Fit cartridge in there.
I had TF Tuned change the damper when it went in for a service. As above id look for a second hand Fit version.
I'd be tempted to look for some second hand Revelations. Some on the classifieds at the moment.
Our eldest weighs in a bit less than that and gets full travel on hers.
Is it 26in?
