For a little while I've not been focused on my biking as much, perhaps its been having two kids, riding too much BMX or riding the same trails too often.
I've not really had that real drive to ride MTB as much as I used to. I love riding and felt I was an OK rider able to take on most things so driving in the car to meet Jedi for some coaching I was wondering....
"How much will I learn in one coaching session and will it change things?"
Well... I am a little taken aback really. Started the day doing something which seemed quite basic but looking back now it was very much part of the master plan.
I was shocked that within the first hour or two I felt like I couldn't ride a bike anymore. I'd gone from having confidence in my ability to learning that what I was doing could be drastically improved. It was like striping away all my skills and standing naked in the woods (Mmmmmmm ๐ ).
There were some quality comments made about what I was doing wrong which were spot on. Taking on board these along with learning skills I thought I knew, we started putting it into riding trails.
The rest of the day was just awesome - I ended up clearing some stuff which has always caused me problems when doing similar elsewhere. Started riding stuff and hitting things that normally I would have been really cautious over.
To sum it up I'm just buzzing to get riding as much and where ever possbile...
Just can't wait to ride!!!! Half tempted to go back tomorrow and riding it on my own! I feel like a new rider!
Big thanks to Tony and Tom for an awesome day and for reigniting that love...
Anyone else had the love reignited? What did it?
Another successful UK Bike Skills coaching session then?
nice to hear man money well spent then.
barnaby, i am glad you enjoyed it so much. the way i structure the day really pays off . it was a nice size group to manage too.
you made real improvments during the day and were flowing down the trails by the end.
you need to practice,practice,practice now
Cheers tony, my riding starting feeling really good by the end of the sesh and I'm soooo stoked I cleared all those drops by the end of the day!! :). In fact everyone was riding better IMHO
It all just made so much sense and that feeling got more intense as the day went on. My head is just buzzing with all the info and I can't wait to try it out.
I'd love to see the photos from the day
I realised last week that I haven't ridden a mountain bike since July. I could really do with finding that love again... ๐
: P
How come you've lost that love Pierre?

I found after my skills day at Dirt School I felt like I was riding like a bag of spanners because I was focusing so hard on doing it right, and now I knew about particular mistakes. After a while it becomes 2nd nature and it's the best thing you can spend money on for your riding. More help than a new bike anyway!
