[hijack]SSS - just built that Gordo onto a 20mm hub ready for the rebas. My god it's a big rim 🙂 think I might loan it out to truckers as a spare...[/hijack]

If my name was Gordon would this count as having "my name on my bike"? Just a thought...keeping it on topic like 🙂

Ohhh, just makes me cringe 😐

Granted 'smell_it' is never going to look cool, but even more dashing sounding names, noooo, just like private number plates. Do those that have them also wear t-shirts with their names on? (forum or real)

It's not for me, I find it odd. Last time I had any possessions with my name on I was on Cub Camp.

I've occasionally thought about it, but decided it is indeed like personalised plates, beyond cheesy.

I got MrsF custom headset caps, but that was a bit different as it was to mark a specific achievement, her first 24 hour solo, not just to have her name on the bike.

Why would you write "Arkala" on your posessions?

two bearings and a metal tube. How on earth could 'his fruitiness' manage to screw that up?

I have some stuff (towels, clothes I wear for painting) that still have name tapes from when I was at boarding school. I left over 15 years ago. 🙁

I guess you all just want to look 'factory' on the trails. Wowing the general public with your extraordinary bike handling prowess, and when they catch a glimpse of the brilliant pseudonym they will truly be in awe of you.

I don't have my name on my bike but the colour scheme results in people recognising me easily...

...I can probably be spotted from space.

reminds me of a letter in viz - went something like-

"why oh why spend thousands of pounds getting a personalised number plate? it's much cheaper to change your name my deed-poll just as i did.

Yours Sincerly X426 J2Y"

easy!

faithfully

it's for bedwetters unless you are a team rider and need to recognise your bike amoungst the other team bikes.
if you have a personalised plate alluding to a bike name but don't own the company or race for them you probably shite the bed too.

The thought that one day I might open a gift containing a bike part, alongside the gleeful shout 'and look its got your name on it!' makes me feel quite anxious.

Well, one of mine already has a name on that I could change my forum name to, which some might say is appropriate, but Inbred wouldn't look too good on my Remedy as well...
But it does rather go with couples wearing matching waterproofs, or riding matching bikes or wearing matching cycling tops and helmets. Difficult to put into words why it's 'wrong', it's rather like poodles, which Frank Zappa described as a convenient metaphore for something it's otherwise difficult to explain concisely.

I was sad enough to get some custom hope discs with my name in them, they didn't work very well either

Meh - I go out for a ride tonight and someone kicks off my favourite thread.... 😆

[img] [/img]

For those that don't know, it's a cheapo Chinese Ti frame. Once I'd removed the rather gash original decals, I thought the frame looked a bit bare....
