Just noticed that my Formula R1 front brake had no power with the leaver pulling to the bar. Flipped the bike upside down and pulled the leaver with the wheel out and can see what looks like fluid (DOT fluid?) leaking from around the piston.
Is it an easy fix to do myself with a seal kit from Silverfish? If anyone has ever stripped a calliper down it would be awesome if you could give me a few pointers.
Also if it is a difficult job who are the best people to send it too, or as it is a bike bought in October 12 is it worth chasing up a repair under warranty from Canyon?
Probably worth a try at warranty. If you decide to repair it yourself, you may run into problems if you require specialist tools such as bore cap removal tool (Silverfish, the importer couldn't/wouldn't supply us with one, but turned the job around quickly, and at a reasonable price).
Thanks coatesy, I have dropped Canyon an email. I like to do all of my maintenance myself, but stripping brakes and rear shocks are two things I have not got round to.
The LBS have quoted £50 based on an hours labour and a £20 seal kit. I would give it a go myself but there is really very little out there on the net, which I guess is a good thing in a way.
