anybody know how to get a seized solid piston out of a formula oro caliper,cant use pliers cannot get any grip on piston and tryed air pressure as well no luck any ideas.....
Try using fluid pressure, will mean re-assembly and bleeding, but will be far more likely to get it moving(use a couple of zip ties to hold the other piston back).It may also be cocked in the bore, so winkling it a bit with a big flat screwdriver at the same time may help too.
yes ive had a go with that method no luck its stuck solid only the one side moves....
May be time for a new caliper then, not many I haven't been able to get out, but occasionally you have to surrender. If you can split the caliper then it may be worth trying some silicone spray around it, and tapping it in with a suitably sized drift, if it's a metal piston it may move, if it's phenolic then you may be able to pick all the liitle bits out individually 🙂
yes it is phenolic and bits have been braking off was thinking of drilling it out or braking it up some how .....
If you can't get it out with hydraulic pressure, ie lever action, it's not coming out. If you can rotate the piston that might break the "seize" but in all honesty if it's that badly jammed up, there's probably enough going on to make it worth scrapping the caliper entirely
