just had a blast on my mates bike fitted with K24's. they're pants compared to my SLX. maybe when they're warmed up the K24's are good, but from a cold start they've got nothing on the big 'S'.
even my old Deore brakes perform better.
i was SO surprised i thought i'd share.
What pads has he got in em?
shit ones? sintered i think. although, i too have sintered (and cheapy ones to boot).
I wasn't wowed with Formula either. I think if you are coming from recent XT/SLX like I was, they aren't much of a revelation.
at the time he wasn't sure whether to go for XT or K24. if XT are an improvement upon the SLX (which if they are, then it can't be by much) then they're a very good brake.
i think he ended up paying a bit more for the K24, too.
Every time somebody mentions Formula brakes on here I have a rant about how rubbish they are and will be replaced by SLX as soon as I get the money together. I hoped father Christmas might bring them but 'er indoors indicated forcibly that she wasn't grobbing about on line for bicycle bits [even though I am expected to spend hours in girly tat shops getting exactly what she wants... oh sorry, that's a different rant!
have you thought about hitting her? might not work, but worth a try. no?
I was between Formulas and XTs as a replacement to my Avid Juicy 3s. Didn't try the Oros as someone sold me their XTs over here for a fair amount. Haven't ridden them much but on the couple rides I have managed I loved them. They feel a lot more solid than the Avid's and a lot more controlled. Everybody told me they do not have enough modulation but I don't think so. I can't see how the Formula's could be much better if at all.
ive got formula oro biancos and i quite like them ๐ i also have slx and hope m4 too and like them . so im obviously easy to please lol
i've sort of settled on shimano as my first-choice supplier of brakes, but in all honesty, in my humble experience, etc. all the different brakes i've tried have been jolly good, if i kept the pads/disc clean.
except for avids, they're bloody awfull.
