Was out on my CDF30 yesterday having been using the summer road bike in preference since the Spring. Jeez, that freehub is noisy - resonates down the country lanes as loud as the Pro 2 on the HT ๐Ÿ™‚

At least I didn't miss not having a bell ....

Wonder if I can quieten it down ? Its a sealed freehub and pretty new, having only see around 700 miles.

what the freehub ? I thought the Formula ones were pretty much a sealed unit - fit and forget, replace when the pauls go ?

Formula do allsorts, mostly you see the cheap rubbish barely sealed cup-n-cones but there's good ones too. I had some nice cartridge bearing ones in my cross bike. Which were completely silent actually and span forever, but maybe these are yet another

thanks, these are described as 'Formula CL-92/CL-14251 Sealed Bearing'

I reckon they are quite full of grease as freehub was a bit draggy first few rides when backpedalling (others with CDF30 found same on here I remember)

It's not the bearings that're making the noise, it's the ratchet on the freehub echoing loudly on the thin aluminium hub. Additional (thin) grease will quiet the resonance.

I speak from experience with Hope singlespeed hubs.
