Can anyone recommend some good replacement forks for my Roadrat. Something that weighs less than the moon would be good!

Disc mount and light? You'll need to go Carbon or Alu. Or both (like the pretty Bontrager forks).

Steel + disc mounts + not flappy = not light forks I'm afraid

What's wrong with the standard ones? I can't see the point of trying to lighten a frameset that's made of gaspipe in the first place.
Point = missed, IMO

(I'm a Roadrat owner)

Pace Carbon/Ti ctypes for me. Bit longer than the standard fork but no ill effects on my commuter

To add...I mashed my old forks into a pedestrian!

Most carbon MTB forks aren't actually that light, about 1kg for the bontrager ones, which is about the same as an aluminium fork or a kona P2.

To go really light you'd have to ditch the disc brake, and get a road/cyclocross fork.

Thanks for the constructive replies.

I'm not looking to build a superlight. I'd be starting from a different point if that was the case.

I'm getting ready to use it for commuting and just fancied losing a bit of weight off the front.
