[#3710051]

Morning.

While building up my current bike I'm commuting on my boss's Specialized Big Hit FSR 1

This one here

Now it has X-Fusion Vengeance front forks that are coil, and when riding up a ledge as small as 2inches there's a horrible 'clunk' noise, almost as if metal is hitting metal.
I've played around with rebound etc and nothing has changed it. I have no knowledge of these forks but wondering if anybody could help??

Thanks

Cummuting with 7.5" of travel? You'll be going further up and down than along!

IS the noise when they re-extend back to full travel (ie. on top out) or as they compress.

Either way a service and inspection woudl be a good idea.

ps. it won;t get better if he leaves it.

My commute is a fortunate 15minutes either way, with lots of urban fun bits ๐Ÿ™‚

wwaswas- Hard to say, but I think its as they compress it makes the noise.

Will have a look at who can service.

Had something similar on my RockShox Tora forks. Turned out to be that the short length of heat shrink tubing that normally sits half way along the spring had wound its way to one end of the spring. When the spring compresses, it deflects sideways slightly, hitting the inside of the lower leg and, without the tubing in place, produces a 'metal-on-metal' noise. Move the tubing back up and everything has been fine since (couple of years, I think)

This may not be your problem, but it's worth a look.
