Buying a new forbidden Druid frame. 29” 135mm travel. What 150mm fork would you put on it? I ride lakes, weigh 10st 5lb. Never ride park. 150 pike, Lyrik or fox 36 performance.
I have a 27.5 160 pike at the mo and that seems good enough. Would the Lyrik Or 36 be heavy and overkill??
I'd put a mezzer on it and reduce travel to 150 - great air spring and damping.
Why not just upgrade the internals of the Pikes if you find them stiff enough....Fast upgrade, smashpot coil,Push ACS will all make the fork better... What model and year Pike?
It’s a 2018 with a 2021 spring. It’s 27.5 can these be upgraded to 29??
Are the mezzers that good. Struggled with manitou reliability back in the day. Are they better now??

More ball ache than its worth, buy new the frame deserves it
if it was me I'd put a lyrik on.

They are a very good fork. never had any problems with my mattocs either (or any other fox I've owned in the last 4 years RS pike, sid and fox 34)
Can’t go wrong with a Lyrik RC2!
lyrik ultimate is great fork and so easy to get dialled in, can't go wrong.
Are 150 29” pikes too flexy??
Sometimes a certain fork feels "ok" or "enough" with a certain bike but that can change if you swap for a more capable frame.
Some years ago I had a Fox 34 on a somewhat conservative trail hardtail and the fork felt perfectly ok. Then I upgraded to a Pipedream Moxie and suddenly the 34 started feeling like a wet noodle.
All this to say that your feeling that the Pike is "enough" might radically change with the Druid, and, IMO, that frame seems to deserve a very capable fork
In the spirit of recommending what you have, I'd put a Cane Creek Helm Coil on there... 🙂
I've just gone from Pikes to Lyrik ultimates and it is night and day regarding the stiffness between the two. It was a close call between the Lyriks and a set of Ohlins from JTEC but I got the Lyriks at a bargain price so that was that.
my mate is on a druid at the moment(gets given a bike to race on each year) and it came with a dt Swiss fork. took him a while to get it setup right and then something went wrong and it needed sending of for repair. while waiting the shop put on a lyrik ultimate which he had for about a month, lots of fiddling to get it setup and never fully happy and then when he got the dt fork back said it was a massive improvement over the lyrik.

Great fork on paper and Poah seems to have a good set but after two bad sets and zero support in the UK, it will likely be another 20 years before I'm willing to give Manitou another go.
I bought a Lyrik Ultimate instead, and it was cheaper. Maybe not as good on paper, but way better actually on my bike.
re manitou - sounds familiar....
I'd put some of the new Suntour Durolux on it, partly because they're supposedly a really good fork and partly to watch the reactions of people when they see a Forbidden with Suntour.
