Forest of Dean - how’s it riding?

I’m going to the FOD next week with the family and will be hitting the trail centre. How are the trails running at the mo? The only time I’ve been before it was a swamp and am slightly worried it’s going to be similar again given our recent weather….

Swamps are no longer the thing. Rivers are in, except where the FC are blocking them to make swamps. Bring wellies.

The trail centre holds up well in the wet. It's had a lot of work done on it over the last year. The offpiste is changeable depending on what area.

Staunton is notoriously sketchy in the wet and takes a long time to dry.

mmm we rode from the Doward side over the Dowies and back and 'drying up' were not the first two words that have come into my head. ******* muddy got in there first 🙂 Dowies was okay, but some of the other stuff like Worcester Lodge... blimey not sure I've seen them that muddy in December!

Was a lovely day tho!

Just in time for a whole week of rain (again) next week.

Most known spots are utterly wrecked with the weather we have had.

Was a bit further south in the Wye valley yesterday and it was the wettest and muddiest I've ever seen it

Err no certainly not , much prefer the less beaten path that way, but was nice to avoid a lot of the sludge .. will probably be a long time till I ride there again but suited the conditions

I was at the trail centre this weekend as a first time visitor - Did the blue with the fam yesterday and uplift with my boy today, thought the trails rode great. There was one puddle soaking my right foot every time on corkscrew, and that was pretty much it for standing water.

Was indeed quite busy, but nice ambience in the woods and good variety of stuff to try. Best tc I've been to in a while.
