The main thing that should be shouting at you from that advert is Durashift! Just make sure you do your research on the system - clutchless semi auto boxes in vans are renowned for expensive repairs, not familiar with any particular system, I just know they can cause lots of heartache!

The other main thing with the Transit is troublesome dual mass flywheels, again just do some research so you are familiar with the problem and have a chance of identifying anything that could spell trouble. Some derivatives have a single mass flywheel which don't suffer from the same probs, but I think they are normally fitted to the heavy duty variants such as the chassis cabs?

The 125 is the strongest engine, 135 has reliability problems I beleive.

If you end up getting a 90 and want some extra oomph, do some reading into Bluefin.

Thats a RWD version which is more unusual for the smaller transits, no bad thing except the floor is higher in the back. Can't tell if its SWB or MWB from those pics.

Can I just say, don't be blinded into buying a transit van.
Couple of builder m8 have gone to Renault Traffics - and got great deals, much better than you can with transits.

One moved from a transit, his partner in business, had bought a new transit a year or so ago and has had nothing but niggly stupid faults (locks and daft stuff - though not mechanical).
The other guy had run a renault panel van (dunno the model) for the last 12 years without a hitch (it seriously impressed him) after being unable to buyu a transit at a decent price (back then)
All are professional builders, and make good use of there vans...

BT have just had a 2yr break (or so) from Transits and went for Vivaro's in the meantime. They switched back to a Ford Transit contract a couple of years ago, so they can't be that bad. Though my 56 plate has had a recall for the central locking and now has a dodgy EGR valve, so in no way perfect!

I'll be looking for a Transit jumbo in the summer hopefully...need a large rear overhand and RWD which only leaves me a choice of the Tranny or a humungous Iveco Daily unfortunately!
