The Forca Vario (and a few others) is similar, the TrailDrop has some detail differences.

Folks: a new batch has landed. Sign up on the website to get notified when they are QC'd ready to send out.

Which are? Do you change the cable?

Hi guys.

TrailDrop has a different remote cable arrangement (see pics on website), different bushing material and comes with a dirt boot included. They are supplied only in 27.2 with no shim supplied - multi fit shims are poor IMO and there's to many sizes of shims to hold stock of at the moment, so you need to buy a shim elsewhere if you need (~£4 online).

TrailDrop posts are now in stock again online: TrailDrop 27.2 dropper seatpost by BigMassive.co.uk

Cheers.

Probably. And costs 3x the price. And doesn't come in 27.2mm.

Pays your money...

Very interested in this, simple as I'm stuck with 27.2. Seems It's this or a Hilo.

I'll leave the full 'Sale Of Goods Act' spiel to TJ but I think you can reasonably expect a seatpost to last longer than a month.

Yeah, you can't get out of SOGA so it'll have to be 'fit for purpose' for 1 year. Of course, you could insist on cleaning/maintenance after every x hours to ensure that it'll last that long.

I would also be interested in the 25mm/110mm version. Have signed up for updates.

ANyone got any pics of the TrailDrop on their bikes?

What he said, if they just do a 'Fox' and say its a high performance racing product that needs servicing after every 15 minutes of use I am sure they will get away with it 😉

15 minutes would see it not being fit for purpose though 😉

Indeed the TrailDrop does require a regular clean and regrease (takes all of 5 minutes). I personally do mine approx every other wet mucky ride, a similar period to cleaning the chain. If / when the bushes wear they are very cheap and can be replaced in the same 5 minutes.

If you break a component we carry a full compliment of spares.

TrailDrops are very simple - 2 metal posts running on a plastic bushing with a sprung steel pin. There is little to go wrong, but if it does I will endeavour to sort it out.

Still very interested in the 420mm length post with the 110mm of drop.

Any news on this? Or expected date for sale?

was - tempted by one of these...if I ordered today, what are the chances of it arriving by the weekend? I assume you post royal mail?

If there is little to go wrong, why not have more faith in the product and offer more than 30 days?

Price is only an invitation to treat.

No law that says you have to buy.

There is a law that says the product has to be fit for purpose and if it failed after 30 days, I'm pretty confident that that wouldn't meet the requirement..

Was - I'm sure the seatpost is fine and that you'd support any issues. I'd be buying one if I didn't need layback but you can't limit your warranty to 30 days.

I have to say I'd not be keen to spend my cash on any bike part that only came with a 30 day warranty, and particularly not a part that is notorious for going wrong. If the big boys struggle to get it right then I'm unconvinced that this budget version is going to be any better.

I think I'm guilty of looking at stuff like this and thinking it looks like a good deal, but in reality its still the best part of 100 quid for a seatpost...so not cheap and I'd expect it to last.

shame, as I was considering one for my 456....

or the OP has withdrawn stock from sale while he has a think about warranties. Don't want this to turn into another Fruit / superstar debacle though, do we?

I want to try one of these, good weight and they supposedly have zero play.

I'm hoping they haven't sold out as I was patiently waiting for an emaail update to tell me they were in stock. Check website yesterday and not showing any. Check this eve after work, see Paypal button and think 'yay!' but no stock available.

Yeah would have been nice if the email sign up worked.

The 30 day warranty doesn't exactly instill confidence - it may be a simple mechanism but things can and do break on even the simplest of things.

"I'm stuck with 27.2. Seems It's this or a Hilo"
Or a gravity dropper
Or a KindShock i7
Or a Rase Black Mamba

a 110mm drop plus a 25mm setting would be very tempting. Under £100?

Emailed to ask about stock/notification.
Reply at 21:47 saying they were out of stock due to huge demand and to check spam filter. Oddly enough, at 21:50 my notification of stock email came through.

Now I know that subscribing to stock notification system doesn't guarantee me the goods but it is a little annoying to have waited patiently then not been able to buy. Just how many were in the batch? 3? Disregarding the actul product I'm disgruntled enough to bugger off and buy something else...

I was lucky enough to buy one of the last batch, I must say I am very happy with it.

Yes I give it a quick clean and grease after a really muddy/gritty ride but it really does take all of 5 mins.

For the price I can't really fault it, does what it should.

doubt it. you're clearly on this thread, and indeed on the mailing list as you are a tight arse. if you were really gonna buy someting else on a whim like that then you would have done already.

It arrived 10 pm last night, well after they'd all sold out. Shame, I would have bought one. 🙁

There's amessage on Big Massive saying they were on sale at 0846 and the email subscribers got their email over 12 hours later. That's not quite the instant sales update I was expecting!

Hi everyone.

Sorry for the confusion. I updated the website with stock. Unfortunately "daily" email shots aren't instant enough. Seems Google Feedburner sends out updates at around 10pm. By 10pm you lot had cleared out the stock from the website, so the email was too late.

I will assemble a pre-order page once I've sent this batch out so those that were disappointed will get their seat post, hopefully within a month of today.

I will only buy in the amount of stock I can handle - I do not have a warehouse and employees (yet!?) so do not want to make sales I can't fulfil in a reasonable time frame.

Thank you all for bearing with me on this. Watch out for the pre-order link in the email subscription.

If you can sell out before the people who have already expressed an interest get an opportunity to buy I think you could probably risk a bigger order with your supplier 🙂

but if you do buy, the product must be fit for purpose. I'm not sure what your point is?

A friend of mine has been using one of these for the past six months or so. They are very simple inside but as far as he is concerned also less to go wrong. The only niggle he has is that they don't retract as far as some of the more expensive competition and maybe 2% of the steep descents he has to physically drop the post lower in the frame. He's been quite happy with his though.

If it had a bigger drop and was semi-reliable it would clean up
