I've recently had to replace my adidas SPD shoes after several years of pain free comfortable riding. I have Shimano winter boots and Specialized shoes, Straps and rachets on the Specialized's. Both pairs of shoes fit perfectly with ample wiggle room and the cleats are set up as they should be but after half an hour of normal riding my feet are in serious pain down the outside of each foot. The only way around this seems to be to loosen the shoes to the point where they are pretty much slipping off.

This doesn't seem right to me and as I said never had an issue with the adidas shoes. The only significant difference is the adidas shoes were much more flexible compared to the ones I have now. So long story short I need some flexible shoes to replace these ones ASAP, any suggestions please?

ooh interested - i get this as well, since i moved over to my new Speshs (from old spechs and Shimano before that)..

It's freaking annoying, i'm sure it's dealt with by a different type of footbed and/or wedges on cleats (normally for solving knee issues)..

My Sidis did exactly the same for about 10 rides and then magically dissappeared.

I get this too but its due to my wide feet. I just can't do up the middle and toe strap tight at all. I just rely on the top strap.

Had problems going from my Adidas boots to Shimano too, wasted so much time trying to sort it myself without success. A trip to Cyclefit proved to be worth every penny, finding quite a few issues including collapsed arches, and a need for wedges. Been pretty much trouble free since.
