On my way back we will be driving past flyer 417 bike park was thinking it would be good to get a few hours break here. Is it worth while with kids if you don't buy the up lift. we only going there for a few hours so don't want to buy a full uplift day ticket.
Is it about the same time difficulty as windhill which is about there limit or are they going to be completely disheartened at the end of the second run when they have to push up again.
Everything on the 2 blues is perfectly rollable from memory.
One of the reds is more rocky with drops, the other a big jump line but again rollable. I'd take less experienced riders on the blues and jumpy red but not the others.
I think it's a good little place for a few hours and the hill is small so I don't think you'll regret the lack of uplift.
It’ll be fine as long as your kids are reasonably competent. The 2 blues are both flowy and rollable. No drops I can remember on either and the kumpsmcsn be rolled or tabletopped (not very big anyway). There are 2 reds from the top - 1 is a big jump line with some sort of drops that might be a bit challenging. The other red has multiple options down it. I think if you go left at every option you have a flowy jumpy trail - but the middle option has some decent sized rock drop offs all the way down. On a hardtail it was quite hard going last time I went after Christmas. There is an indoor pump track you can play on too for a small cost. The push-up isn’t too bad - and you can pay £3 a go for uplifts in the mini bus should you fancy that.
I take my 9 year old to 417 and wndhill sometimes and he loves them both. He is a pretty decent rider (mid pack regional bmx-er) but he's not crazily good. He loves the windhill blue and jump red lines, but he won't ride the blacks (mainly as I won't let him) and struggles a bit on the rooty red one.
He really enjoys all the red and blue trails at 417. they are very 'built' with no roots, and the rocks that are there are kind of artificial rock gardens. There is one steep chute from the very top that he won't ride, but the rest of it he is fine on (he's not clearing many of the jumps, but it is really safely built for kids).
He loves the indoor pumptrack too. We've pushed up and it isn't too bad, but buying a couple of lifts as Joe suggests isn't a bad idea.
