have singlecross and i want some new wheels to go on it, looking at the halo aeroage track wheels. these come as fixed fixed or fixed free. What is the difference?

does the fiexd free mean that both sides just need a screw on cog but on seide has a free hub built in.

and therefore the fixed fixed could be run with a freewheel using a shimano freehub cog?

thanks

fixed/free will mean that one side also has a reverse thread for your lockring to stop your fixed cog spinning off, the other will just be a thread for a singlespeed freewheel.

fixed/fixed = both sides will have reverse threads for lockrings.

Ive always wondered why the need for a "free" side, as surely you can screw a freewheel on to a fixed thread even if it has got the reverse thread next to it. SO why not just fixed/fixed.

Maybe fixed/free is 5p cheaper to make?
