Here is my short list - any advice or better suggestions appreciated.
Shoes seem obvious = Five Ten Impact Low

Shin/Knee guards = either 661 Race Lite or other?

Pedals = expensive + bling option would be Straightline SC platforms. Economy or realistic option Wellgo magnesium or Gusset Slim Jim Magnesium.

If you want bling go for some Brooklyn Machine Works - Shin Burgers. They will be going on my new build 😀

For shin guards, I don't think that Troy Lee Designs Lopes pads can be beaten: They are great to ride all day and never slip.

its not about the feet coming off the pedals anymore (I've got enough gouges from the old days) its about just plain coming off. no doubts they saved my legs on a few decent crashes in the alps recently. the 3x ones wrap a bit round the edges for when you're sliding along the ground sideways.

I wear 5 10s but also an old pair of Vans, tbh I think 5 10s are hugely overrated... They're enormously grippy but since good skate shoes offer enough grip anyway, I never feel I need more. I prefer my Vans for everyday riding.

For pedals, Wellgo MG1, they're light and they're reasonably priced and they grip, total victory really 😉 They're just not hugely strong.

I don't wear shin guards, just knee pads (kyle straits).
