I'm sure this has been discussed before but I can't be arsed fighting against the search.
I've been getting sore feet lately on long rough descents and I suspect it's my pedals, Burgtec MK4 Composites. They're plenty gippy but I seem to be clawing on them. My previous e13 Base pedals caused less pain but were also less grippy.
I don't have massive feet (UK9) but am considering swapping to something with a larger platform like Deity Deftraps. I prefer riding mid foot as opposed to on my balls (🤫), so would these be a good option or should I look for something flatter or even convex? OneUp or RaceFace Chester V2 for example.
I'm happy with my shoes, Ride Concepts Accomplice with stiff Ergon IP Pro Solestar insoles.
Never had an issue with foot pain on any pedal or shoe combination until recent years, so I'm going to blame getting older.
You say you're happy with the shoes but have they changed at all (as in you've bought a new set that you thought were the same but have been updated) or are they now a bit older so your feet are moving around in them a little bit because they've got a bit looser?
Personally I definitely prefer a concave pedal like a DMR V12/Vault as I feel more settled into it rather than perched on the top so it might be worth a try, I had some Saints and some Superstar Nano's which were bigger platform but didn't feel as connected (same size feet as you).
I agree with above, the vaults feel really good under foot for me. More comfortable than hopes, nukeproof and oneup for me

Shoes are around a year old, but I only ride once or twice a week so they're still good.
I used to have V12 Mags, original Nanos and Saints too, which were all great with Vans, Etnies, DCs etc however I find those types of shoe too flexy these days. I could try the modern versions of those pedals, but prefer composites due to the price of alloy these days.
I have Rose alloy flat pedals (which I believe were one of the earlier HT designs) on my gravel bike and get no pain on those (same shoes), but they're not grippy enough for MTBing + I'm not riding long, rough descents with them.
Yes the prices have definitely kept increasing! V11 Composites are a nice pedal, based on the Vault shape. I'm just keeping my 2 sets of V12 Mags alive to the bitter end personally.

I take it the V11s don't suffer the same rapid self destruction problem as the Vaults do?
From all the reviews I've read the Deity Deftraps do seem like they'de be ideal... I just wonder if a flatter or convex alternative would be better to alleviate my foot pain.

Now we aren't all trashing five ten lowers in 6 months, I find flat pedal shoes wear out in terms of stiffness long before the sole is wrecked or the uppers unstitch.
I bought an identical pair as a replacement (fox union) with the intention of having a "best" pair and a "mud" pair. one ride in the new pair revealed just how bad the old ones had become.
Not a complaint on the longevity of those shoes, I felt I got more than fair use out of them.
I have 2 sets of pedals, both large platforms. Stamp, which is flat and XT, which are concave. Riding mid-foot, I prefer the stamp for comfort.
I recently spent 3 days in a bike park and was expecting sore feet, but I got no pain at all. No idea if this information is of any use, but it pointed out to me that the pain comes from pedalling not the impacts from the ground.
Either way, Stretching, if you don’t already, may improve your comfort. Or using a tennis ball to massage the soles of your feet.

@citizenlee - tell me more about the insoles. I use specialized body geometry blue at the moment. how do they compare?
I just bought some stamp pedals and shoes. Was previously riding stamp trial shoes on DMR Vault and got 'clawing' on those I think because the stamp trail are too flexy. Didn't have the same feeling with some stiff 5:10s on the DMR.

Bigger pedals and/or slightly stiffer shoes would seem to be the solution. I do well on HT PA03 and either Ride Concepts Hellion Elites or Giro [insert name i have forgotten but the trail ones] shoes.

The pedals have started misbehaving and making awful creaking/cracking noises so I've put the Unites off my old bike on to see if that changes. During the swap I realised that the Unites seem to have a significantly bigger platform.

With the Burgtecs I do seem to struggle to naturally pop my feet on in the perfect position. Specifically my right/trailing foot. I need to do a bit of wiggling to get it right. With most pedals I've used in the past it's something I've never really had to think about, just jump on the bike and off I go with no pain at the end of a long run.
I think I'll try either Deftraps or Chester V2s in large.

yes, it's the arch support I wanted from the BG. Started with the green but that was too much. Might try a set of Ergon as looks like they're similar money.
