hi

i have a gt zakskar L.E. on it are flat bars and a long stem with which on some steep downhills i feel like im going over the front even with my position well back over the saddle.
would the bike still handle well on the uphill (cos i do like my onza bar ends) with a short stem and riser bars.

The shorter the stem the more the bike will wander on climbs. The wider the bars the more the bike will wander on climbs. Less weight, more leverage. The question is one of what do you find a decent compromise.

With wider bars the need for bar ends is reduced, but apart from the fashion police there's no real reason not to keep them if you want to. But yeah it'll still be ok on the climbs.
