Just been given a commuter bike (link below). It needs a little TLC and the brake levers are pretty dire 5 finger jobs. They are shifter/brake combos so Im going to swap them out. Would it be possible to change to a drop bar set up keeping the current deraileurs?

Cheers

James

It can be done but it's a faff.
You may need to bodge the front mech and possibly change the brakes.
The geometry may also not work very well.

Thanks.

I'm pretty work shy so that sounds like too much faff for me. Will standard 8 speed/3 speed MTB shifters work?

Cheers

I would say that both the shifters and brakes should be fine with some 8 speed shimano stis for road drop bars.
The geometry looks ok to take a road drop bar also as the top tube is relatively short.
So I would say do it.
Put a wtb ad up and you should be able to do if for £60 pounds or so.
What is the bike for ?
I commute everyday now, and have found a fixee with bullhorn bars the best choice for me..
Brakes both ends of course..
