thinking of changing the cross bike for a flat bar commuter.
do like to hit the canal towpath and some bridleways on the route so not
really looking at a skinny tyred model, more 32c. Liking the look of the cannodale badboy and charge mixer, disc brakes being a nice bonus.
Any opinions/reviews welcome.
ps the commute is 25miles e/w so don't want anything to leaden.

I started off looking at those two, but the lack of rack mounts on the mixer and the priceyness of the cannondale badboy 8 led me down the Cotic Roadrat 700c custom route with Alfine gearing and Magura disks. 18 Bikes are sorting it out as we speak! (cycle scheme)

can you not just change the bars?

my flat bar roadie is essentially a CX frame underneath

Reggie - the cross bike has a long list of parts that need replacing and with cyclescheme looming I thought I'd just get a new bike, if I factor in a set of bars and levers the margin gets a lot narrower.

Ewok/molgrips will check them out now.

what about Alfines and punctures ? sounds like a faff.

I love my Roadrat... £600 singlespeed. good wheels, lovely handling. I tend to ride the long way round when I;m on it
