The mineral build up on their feet from alkaline lakes can scratch your paint.

Am finding lack of colour choice a bit off putting too.
It's all to do with the fuel you put in apparently, run them on something else and the colour will change.
What would worry me though is they're not even great for croquet mallets so i imagine you'd struggle with using one for a bike.
